Cholamandal IP Law firm and Intellectual Property Rights Attorneys Association organized and the felicitation ceremony for students who have completed a course in Intellectual Property Rights as a part of the seminar “Women Innovation and creativity”. Meritorious PhD Scholars from and Tamil Nadu Veterinary Science University, Chennai were also felicitated with certificates as “women innovators” who powering change in innovation and creativity”. The conference was conducted between December 2017 and February 2018, where the students learnt courses on Trademark, Patent, Copyright, Biotechnology Law and Preserving Cultural Heritage and Traditional Knowledge.
Senior IPR Attorney P.Sanjai Gandhi, the President of Intellectual Property Rights Attorneys Association and his Advocates Mr.RajakumarSahoo and DivyaSampath along with Research Interns Anjaly TA and Ammu v Nair, organized this seminar in Anna Centenary Library. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr. M. Bhaskaran, the Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Open University and Mr. P Shriram the Chairman of Chennai Institute of Technology. The event was attended by Students from Meenakshi College of Arts & Science Chennai who were given certificates for successfully completing an IPR course with the Association and Meenakshi College for Women.
The Event began with a welcome address presented by DivyaSampath, Advocate who spoke about N. Valarmati the project director of RISAT-1, India’s first indigenously-developed Radar Imaging Satellite setting an example for young women to follow in today’s times. A welcome song was sung by Students of Meenakshi College of Arts & Science. The Chief Guest Dr. M. Bhaskaran, Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Open University and Mr. P Shriram the Chairman of Chennai Institute of Technology, the guest of honour were felicitated with a shawl and a book written by Mr. P Sanjai Gandhi on the Arts and Crafts of India after which the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour of the event and the President of The IPRAA addressed the gathering. A technical session was followed where Students and Advocates had an interaction with the President of IPRAA Mr.Sanjai Gandhi who spoke and encouraged more women to join the field of science and technology. His junior Advocates presented regarding the importance and the role of women in innovation and creativity and how one can safe guard their Intellectual property rights.
